Corner crepe myrtle

This crepe myrtle was blooming a week ago and now its flowers are fading away for the season. I am happy I captured it when it was speaking to me as loudly as it was with its radiant pink flowers. These things change but I hope the paintings can bring some closer attention to them when they are here.

It reminds me of a poem I wrote once
“If we only remembered to love things before they were gone
Maybe the absence teaches a lesson of love
Maybe the open heart
Bleeding out
Welcomes more than when it’s closed
And maybe without ignorance one would never know.”
