A lifelong creative, Jack is a painter and writer with 11+ years of experience in the fine arts. Experiments in many mediums, particularly photography, drawing, and printmaking led Jack to focus on his current chosen mediums, paint and verse.

Born in Charlottesville, Virginia, Jack was quickly drawn to the variety of colors available to him in crayon and marker sets, which informed his earliest childhood drawings and initiated a boyhood of tinkering and creation. Some of his early ventures involved building train circuits, marble mazes, and block towers, and tinkering with mechanical cars. As he grew, these interests evolved into building custom lego helicopters, wood toys, air bottle rockets, minecraft structures and landscapes, lego stop motion animations, star wars battle scenes and more. After a number of earlier camera explorations, at age 14, he took his first darkroom photography class, which formally introduced him to the world of art. He then began a period of learning the camera diligently and producing photographs of nature and structure. At 15, studying just outside of Princeton, New Jersey, he began to practice the basics of drawing and design at the Lawrenceville School, and, at 18, by the end of his senior year, he had produced two proper series of photographs exploring abandoned spaces, and picturesque landscapes.

After high school, Jack transitioned from exploring with photography to exploring with drawing, printmaking, and painting at Dartmouth College. His ventures also continued into areas such as architecture, filmmaking, stop-motion, sculpture, and bookmaking, and ultimately culminated in a formal honors thesis series of mixed-media sculptural paintings on foam boards. During his college years, he produced much work independent of his schooling too, including a number of paintings that he showed in Lebanon, NH, during his senior year, age 21.

After graduating college, Jack produced several series of works while finding his footing and is continuing to produce work in his studio in Charlottesville, Virginia. At 23, during this period of change, he began to write poetry, which he recalls first exploring in high school and has found to be an excellent companion to his visual arts practice. Now, at age 25, he spends each day focused on his next verbal or visual composition. Looking ahead, while continuing to master his chosen crafts, he has high hopes to get more of his work into the world, sharing his practice and inspiration. Inside the work are many thousands of hours of care, practice, striving, and contemplation. With the fruits of his work, he hopes to positively influence the lives of his clients, viewers, and readers alike.
